Conway's Game of Life
Better than "Hello World" for getting to know a new programming language. Four rules, no players, and surprisingly rich behaviour.
The rules
Every cell looks at its eight neighbours. A living cell with two or three living neighbours survives, otherwise it dies. A dead cell with exactly three living neighbours comes to life. The grid wraps around at the edges.
Randomize the board or click cells to draw your own pattern, then press Start. The simulation stops by itself when the board is stable, oscillates or has died out.
